Northrop’s Tim Rosener joins Connectivity Next Summit 2023

The Connectivity Business News editorial team is pleased to announce that Tim Rosener, radio frequency chief engineer at defense contractor Northrop Grumman, will discuss innovations in antenna technology at Connectivity Next Summit 2023 on Monday, Nov. 13, at 1:30 p.m. (ET).

Rosener will participate in a panel discussing antenna tech that can connect to multiple orbits, enabling satellite-to-cellphone connections and the need for smaller, more portable antennas. He serves as radio frequency chief engineer of the overhead persistent infrared exploitation systems operating unit for the payload and ground systems division of Northrop’s space systems division.

Falls Church, Va.-based Northrop (NYSE: NOC) has been testing its antenna portfolio for the last 50 years to refine the technology and stay up to date with changing connectivity needs, according to the company’s website.

The global flat panel antenna market is projected to generate $23 billion in cumulative revenues between 2022 and 2031 and $3.8 billion in revenues in 2032, David Oni, research analyst at Northern Sky Research, previously told CBN.

Flat panel antennas, which include phased array and electronically steered antennas, are gaining traction in the connectivity sector due to their compatibility with complex satcom networks, according to Oni.

Northrop also produces large antennas and ground systems for Carlsbad, Calif.-based satcom provider Viasat (NASDAQ: VSAT). Northrop last month achieved a key milestone for Viasat’s and Space Norway’s Arctic Satellite Broadband Mission, delivering multiple payload components to be integrated onto the two satellites.

Connectivity Next Summit 2023 is the only event to delve deeply and holistically into satellite connectivity’s future with an aim to help satcom professionals identify better strategies for growth and profitability.
